Delete your Bao Budget account
You can ask us to delete your Bao Budget account and its data from this page. You do not need the app installed, and you can start here whether or not you are signed in.

Deleting an account is permanent, so we confirm it is you first. Give us the email address on the account and we will send a sign-in link that brings you back to this page, where you can finish the request.
Your bank connections are cut, a subscription bought on our website is cancelled, and your account is deactivated the moment you ask. Everything below is permanently removed 30 days later. A subscription billed through Apple is not cancelled: only you can cancel it, in Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
What gets deleted
Your bank connections
Every linked bank is disconnected at the provider straight away, and the stored credentials are destroyed. This happens when you ask, not at the end of the wait.
Your accounts, transactions and goals
Balances, transaction history, categories, budgets, goals, allocations and automation rules are all removed with the account.
Your profile and sign-in
Your name, email address, password, passkeys and two-factor factors are removed, along with every active session and device.
Your progress and notifications
Streaks, badges, quests, insights, saved shares and notification history all go.
What we keep, and why
Your Stripe billing customer record
A subscription bought on our website is cancelled immediately, so you are not billed again for it. The billing customer record itself stays with our payments processor, Stripe, because tax rules, refunds and card chargebacks can all arrive after an account is gone. It holds billing history, not your financial data.
Your security and audit log
We keep a security log for up to two years, as the rules for handling financial data require. It records that an account existed and what was done to it — sign-ins, changes, this deletion request — including the IP address each came from. Once the account is removed the log is marked as belonging to a deleted person and is no longer linked to a live profile.
A record that you had a free trial
Free trials are one per person, so when a trial ends we keep a scrambled one-way code made from the email address and, where we have it, the payment method used for it, along with the trial dates and how it ended, for up to two years. Not every record has the payment-method part. The codes cannot be turned back into your email address or your card, and they are kept after the account is deleted — otherwise the same email address could take another free trial the next day.
Anything under a legal hold
If a law-enforcement or regulatory requirement obliges us to preserve records about an account, removal is paused for as long as that requirement lasts. When it ends, the removal resumes.
